Neurofeedback: An Overview

Neurofeedback training is built on operant conditioning and neuroplasticity — meaning your brain is always learning and capable of change, whether you’re trying or not! Doing neurofeedback at home isn’t hard because of the wires. The challenging part is designing the right plan for your brain — and adjusting it as your brain grows and shifts — that’s where your Coaches come in. They guide every step of the process so your training stays supported and effective.

A typical neurofeedback session involves attaching a couple of ear clips and placing one or two sensors on specific spots on your scalp. We teach you how to find these spots (and check in real time to make sure everything is correct).

The placement and sensor locations depend on the goal of that session — whether we’re working on attention, sleep, stress, etc. The software monitors your brainwave activity (theta, beta, delta, alpha), and whenever your brain naturally shifts in a desirable direction, the system provides a reward — a visual or audio response in a game or graphic. No electricity goes back into your brain — no stimulation or zaps — just passive feedback that acknowledges when your brain makes the right move on its own.

Neurofeedback (also called EEG biofeedback) simply gives your brain information about what it’s doing in real time. That feedback allows the brain to self-correct. Over time, the system adjusts the targets slightly so your brain continues to grow and fine-tune those patterns. The computerized feedback shows up as a visual reward (like a game progressing) or an auditory tone — only when your brain just did something worth reinforcing.

Sessions typically last about 30 minutes and are done 2–3 times per week. Most people notice some sort of effect within 3–5 sessions (sometimes even after the first one). Early effects are subtle and temporary — maybe a brief sense of calm, focus, slight fatigue, or a boost of energy — but they fade. As the brain continues training, cumulative shifts begin to build — sleep and attention are usually the first areas people notice real improvement in.

Common goals like better sleep, reduced stress, and improved focus can take 30–50 sessions to produce stable, lasting change (roughly 3 months).

Throughout your personalized program, your Coaches will use the data from your QEEG along with your unique goals to customize and evolve your protocols. We utilize a wide range of neurofeedback methods to help your brain learn to produce — and maintain — its healthiest, most optimal patterns so you can operate at your peak.
