We Created a Jesus Calling Web App: Carrying a Daily Word With Us

We have always loved Jesus Calling. Its daily readings have a way of meeting us exactly where we are, reminding us that we are loved, that we are never alone, and that we can trust Jesus with whatever we are carrying. Over the years, particular readings have spoken directly to our circumstances—a difficult decision, a season of uncertainty, a relationship needing grace, or a fear we couldn’t shake. Again and again, the message has felt like a gentle reminder from Jesus: Look at Me. Trust Me. I’m here.
That is why we wanted to make the daily reading available wherever we happened to be. What happened when we weren’t home? What if we were traveling without the book, sitting in an airport, on a plane, staying in a hotel, or simply didn’t have the physical book with us? We wanted to be able to have that same daily moment with Jesus no matter where life took us.

That desire led us to build a web app. It includes the daily Jesus Calling reading along with a daily prayer, giving us a simple way to begin each day by turning our attention toward Jesus. We wanted something we could open anywhere and immediately have that familiar opportunity to slow down, read, pray, and remember what is true.
Because that’s really what this is about. It isn’t about an app, and it isn’t even really about a book. It’s about creating a moment each day to listen and to intentionally turn our hearts toward Jesus.
The readings from Jesus Calling have repeatedly reminded us that Jesus speaks into the ordinary details of our lives. He calls us toward trust when we want control, toward peace when we feel anxious, toward patience when we want things to move faster, toward gratitude when we are focused on what is missing, and toward surrender when we are trying to figure everything out ourselves. Those reminders have mattered to us, and we wanted to make it easier to have that experience every day.
So we built this app for ourselves first. We wanted to have Jesus Calling with us even when we didn’t have the book with us. But as we began using it, we realized that maybe other people would want the same thing—a simple way to carry this daily encouragement with them wherever they go.
Maybe you have experienced the same thing. You love Jesus Calling, but you don’t always have the book with you. Maybe you have developed the habit of reading it in the morning and don’t want to lose that rhythm when you travel. Because one of the beautiful things we have discovered through Jesus Calling is that the words don’t have to stay on the page. They can follow us into our conversations, our decisions, our struggles, our families, our work, and the moments when we simply don’t know what to do next.
Jesus is still calling. And we simply wanted to make it a little easier to stop, wherever we are, and listen.
